Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree

Description:
As a member of a global drafting department, you will assist in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for custom-designed process equipment across Corning Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing locations. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the drafting lead to complete all required work for engineering/development drawing sets prior to their release into the system (Autodesk Vault). This role involves creating 3D models and associated drawings, ensuring adherence to company drafting standards including detail, sheet metal, weldment, and assembly drawings. Please note that this position does not involve new design activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Correct redlined models/drawings issued by drafting lead or engineering teams
Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associated drawings
Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models
Collect data from engineering teams and integrate information into drawings
Gather measurements and information from the production floor for incorporation into drawings
Work Environment:
Employment will be through a third party on a contract basis. Contracts typically last for 1 year and can be extended based on performance and project workload.
Hybrid work schedule available (work from home 3-4 days per week)
M-F, 8am-5pm base schedule; overtime may be required, with a target of 45 hours per week.
Required Education:
Candidates should possess one of the following, but other technical degrees with demonstrated skills in drafting will be considered:
A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree
A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree
Drafting Certificate/Certification
Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting and have at least 2 years of experience as a Drafting/CAD Technician or in Mechanical Engineering.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years professional experience in the mechanical drafting field
Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards
General Windows-based computer skills
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software
Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines
Strong work ethic
Strong attention to detail
