CTG has an immediate opening for a Drawing Analyst/Coordinator to join our Information Management Support team in Whiting, Indiana.

Position Summary

The Drawing Analyst/Coordinator will provide support to project teams primarily during handover to ensure information requiring as-built processing is identified and includes all redline processing to drawings. The drawing analyst position will support design activities in the areas of drafting support using CAD standards, hybrid files, and drawing management. An understanding of safety standards, site standards and industry standards will be important for this role. The candidate should understand correlated information (i.e., commissioning dates, process services, etc.) to identify and validate updates in related systems such as line management applications. Additional responsibilities will include processing departmental, Maintenance & Project engineering drawings to ensure they are attributed, meet CAD standards, are loaded into the Electronic Document Management System and searchable by users.

Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities

  • Primary contact for Project Information Management (PIM) team for all drawing requests

  • Coordinates with departmental drawing owners, maintenance, projects, and engineering firms

  • Able to read and understand all drawing types

  • Manages drawing requests; check out/copy out, research, etc.

  • Responsible for the check-In loading of drawings into the Documentum from all projects, maintenance, and turnarounds

  • Ensures the underground drawings are properly attributed

  • Ability to identify disciplines from drawing descriptions, in order to correctly determine and assign the proper discipline.

  • Possess strong knowledge of the refinery asset units and locations. Including knowledge of the difference between ISBL (Inside Battery Limits) and OSBL (Outside Battery Limits), in order to properly assign new drawing numbers

  • Strong knowledge of the CLIENT line numbering system

  • Maintaining the access database for the drawing sign out list

  • Assists with the electronic/paper filing of Drawing Management documents, updating of drawing revisions and input of required information, per CLIENT CAD standards.

  • Manage the storage and distribution of all documents (drawings, transmittals, etc.) related to Drawing Management, in both paper and electronic format.

  • Ability to read drawings and properly navigate to items being searched, for the end user

  • Docloader-create spreadsheets for new drawing number placeholders, also bulk loading new drawings

  • Responsible for the continual maintenance and loading of old drawings into the Documentum.

  • Searching/Scanning/Printing/Plotting when required.

  • Ability to use computer tools as required (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Auto CAD, Documentum, Scanning software,

  • Printing/Plotting software)

  • Drawing distribution alerts – creation and distribution

  • Audit of CAD drawings submitted by engineering firms to ensure CLIENT 2D CAD requirements are met

  • Minor update of CAD drawings

  • Providing internal and external customer service

  • Filling in for co-workers during absences & assistance to co-workers with heavy workloads when required


  • Associates degree preferred in IT related field, Engineering, or Business

  • 2D CAD education or certification preferred


  • Experience in Information Management preferred

  • Working knowledge of Documentum and/or Citadon Document Management Systems helpful

  • 2 Years’ experience drafting in AutoCAD required

  • Knowledge of CLIENT Whiting 2D CAD Standard preferred

Required Skills / Competencies

  • Capable of viewing, creating, editing, and printing electronic file formats including DOC, XLS, PPT, DWG, DGN, PDF, JPG and TIF

  • Understanding of MS products Access, Visio and SharePoint

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional

  • Experience drafting AutoCAD drawings

  • Familiarity with database configuration and schemas

  • Reliable performance and attendance

  • Knowledge of engineering documentation including ability to identify unit, equipment and understand drawing disciplines
