Compensation: $57.90 – $58.60 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Department/Team Description

Strategic Planning and Project Management in Medical Affairs (MA), Oncology SBU is a global function which partners and collaborates with the MA Teams and Key Stakeholders (internal and external) to assist in achieving short and long term strategic goals while adhering to “LIFE” values (leadership, integrity, flexibility, efficiency).

Position Summary

The Manager in Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management (SP&PM) facilitates the Medical Affairs team in reaching their portfolio, resourcing, and financial goals. The SP&PM Manager supports the Functional Heads in decision making pertaining to study budgets, plans budget timelines utilizing Microsoft Project and facilitates Resource Benchmarking.

Supports the Medical Heads in decision making pertaining to study budgets. Leveraging broad technical skills, strong business acumen and deep analytical passion to provide actionable insights, decision support, and performance reporting that will help improve operational efficiency for our organization. Partner cross-functionally to understand and define business requirements that drive clarity. Drive the development of business processes to support rapid growth, scale, and operational excellence.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Effectively review financial reports and identify trends.

  • Proactively solicit feedback from stakeholders and recommend creative, impactful solutions while understanding business impacts.

  • Develop and manage analytical tools, models or reports that support strategic business decisions as well as align and simplify customer business reviews, planning, and forecasting processes

  • Financial analysis and study performance / cost tracking

  • Develop resource benchmarking for GMA Oncology

  • Develop project timelines using Microsoft Project

  • Communicate and escalate project issues and risks which surface and cannot be quickly resolved which will have an impact on program results, schedules, scopes, or budgets.

  • Ability to focus on the big-picture, while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Strives to consistently develop creative solutions to issues, problems, and significant challenges

  • Demonstrates solutions-oriented confidence and is willing to question/challenge in-order-to discover the best solution to any problem.

  • Reliable team player with the ability quickly adapt and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment of positively changing expectations and culture.

  • Ability to communicate complex findings or results in a clear, concise, and actionable manner to a non-technical audience.

  • Must be business savvy, think strategically, possess financial acumen, strong operational knowledge and demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Process-driven, detail-focused, highly organized and the ability to effectively prioritize.

Requirements/Preferences

Education Requirement(s)

  • Bachelor’s, MBA or PMP certification preferred

Skill & Competency Requirements:

  • Advance knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Project, & SAP

  • Experience communicating results and new ideas to senior business leaders.

  • Experience working in Financial role

  • Pharma experience, ideally Medical Affairs, Oncology experience a plus

  • Financial acumen

  • Highly detailed-oriented; strong written, computer and communication skills

  • Advanced Excel knowledge required

  • Microsoft Project

  • High degree of responsibility and accountability

  • Able to identify needs and risks

Preferences

  • Ideally experienced in Finance/ Project Management function

  • Medical Affairs experience, ideally Oncology experience
