Our client in Webster, NY has an immediate opening for a DevOps Engineer for a long term contract assignment.

Compensation: $63.00/hr

Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 PM

Candidate must have Azure and VSTS experience.

Description:

Our client is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team in Webster, NY. As a DevOps Engineer, you will work across scrum teams to help design and build the cloud systems infrastructure, focusing on orchestration, security, availability and performance. A successful candidate has strong experience with Azure/Cloud services, is self-driven, enjoys learning new technologies, and is willing to stretch themselves to become a stronger engineer and mentor others around them to do the same.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall operational excellence for all assigned cloud services. Including but not limited to optimizing cost/capacity ratios, proper monitoring, scaling, implementing and validating database DR scenarios, and ensuring regional redundancy of web applications within budget.

  • Develop effective cloud infrastructure, enforcing good architectural principles, providing technical oversight, and ensuring security best practices are implemented and followed.

  • Develop and manage Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery process for different types of applications and automate as many processes as possible

  • Help development teams understand which Azure services to use, follow best-practices from a security and scalability standpoint, and manage cost optimization efforts

  • Help tune and test applications to discover bottlenecks, optimize configuration, and ensure scalability and high uptime

  • Support launch efforts and monitoring of production stacks

  • Manage and support internal customer environments in the Microsoft Azure cloud

  • Manage the full release process

  • Manage the open source governance process

  • Manage handoff to internal Operations delivery organization

Additional Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Cloud infrastructure architecture and principles

  • Agile & SCRUM methodologies

  • SQL Azure or equivalent

  • Azure Cloud Services, App Services, Storage Services, App Insights or equivalent

  • Strong scripting and development skills, understanding of code as infrastructure

  • Strong experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft based production systems

  • Understanding of integrating enterprise environments with cloud environments.

  • Manage, develop, build CI/CD pipeline, including:

  • Check code quality

  • Unit, integration and functional tests implementation

  • PowerShell scripting for custom tasks automation

  • Customer-oriented, diligent, proactive, focused on achieving customer’s business objectives as top priority

  • Able to work successfully both individually and as a team member

  • Easy-going, friendly, communicative, positive in relations with colleagues, in every situation strives to see opportunities rather than problems

  • VSTS or equivalent system Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of system infrastructure design and implementation experience

  • 2 years of Microsoft Azure (AWS experience acceptable)

  • 2 years application development experience preferred in one or more high-level languages
