CTG Expert Engineer in Richland, Washington

CTG is seeking to fill an Expert Engineer opening for our client in Richland, WA.

Location: Richland, WA-onsite

Duration: 12 months

We will consider candidates that need to relocate for the position.

Duties:

  • Provide technical leadership and accountability in the assurance of technical adequacy and appropriateness of all engineering activities in the area of discipline responsibility.

  • Serve as a strong and recognized technical resource for solving complex engineering problems that go beyond the scope normally encountered.

  • Ensure the primary accountability for compliance with design bases requirements and the proper application of engineering methods in design and analysis.

  • Review and approve design changes, calculations/analyses, licensing documents, system health reports, and other technical documents as defined in procedures and assigned by management.

  • Define, implement, and manage major engineering programs or discipline groups, providing required technical leadership and overview with minimal guidance.

  • Assure engineering work is completed properly, ensuring technical quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Provide broad, in-depth technical guidance and mentoring to discipline engineering personnel, actively involving in current engineering issues and coordinating multidiscipline aspects of the work.

  • As a senior technical authority, provide engineering consultation and guidance in resolving complex system and component problems requiring broad system knowledge and integration of multiple factors.

  • Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operations, and initiate corrective actions in accordance with the plant CR process.

  • Provide consultation and direction on code or standards requirements, design and analysis methods, or licensing requirements.

  • Develop state-of-the-art discipline engineering methods and practices to meet engineering missions and establish a professional reputation via technical publications and/or professional society participation.

Skills:

  • Advanced technical knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and theories specific to discipline.

  • Ability to perform sophisticated analyses and solve complex problems related to engineering design and systems.

  • Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and team coordination abilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of industry developments, particularly in nuclear power and energy applications.

  • Proficiency in code or standards requirements, design analysis methods, and licensing requirements.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of discipline-specific engineering experience, with at least 7 years related to nuclear power.

  • Experience with nuclear design change processes and 50.59 licensing process is preferred.

  • Experience in pipe stress analysis, pipe support and hanger support, and floor loading is desirable.

Education:

  • Requires two of the following: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science from an accredited institution, a Professional Engineering (PE) license, or an advanced degree.

Required Abilities and Skills:

  • Seasoned, in-depth knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and theories.

  • Advanced technical knowledge in related discipline areas.

  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of industry trends and developments.

  • Ability to provide effective mentoring and technical guidance to junior staff.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively lead teams.

  • Strong communication skills to relate to both highly technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Desired Abilities and Skills:

  • Advanced computer skills and familiarity with engineering tools.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact with diverse teams.

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80.00/hour to $106.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
