CTGs premier global client in Durham, NC has a 6 month contract opening for aSr DevOps-Release Manager (Software Engineer III).

Location: RTP, NC

Duration: 6 months

Introduction:

Our Professional Services team is looking for a Sr. DevOps/Release Manager to lead the delivery of our Cloud-based next generation retail solutions for a rapidly growing customer base. In this role, you will be responsible for working with multiple product development teams to deliver feature rich, reliable, and scalable solutions to our many customers. This is an exciting time to join our growing team and get in on the ground floor of helping us deliver breakthrough technologies for the retail market.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, plan, and manage activities in the release management life cycle

  • Manage multiple releases including feature releases and maintenance releases

  • Maintain the deployment schedule and ensure alignment across stakeholders

  • Create release notes

  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/NoGo reviews

  • Communicate release details including schedule, scope changes, and risks to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct release readiness reviews based on clearly defined readiness criteria

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage and escalate risks affecting release scope, schedule, and quality

  • Escalate gaps in software development, testing, release notes, and rollout plans needed for upcoming releases

  • Define and deliver improvements in the release processes and pipelines

  • Conduct action-oriented retrospectives and blameless post mortems to strengthen processes and harden the system

Required Skills:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering

  • 10+ years professional experience in software engineering

  • Experience managing multiple complex software releases

  • Versioning and dependency management

  • Demonstrated knowledge of source control and code branching strategies

  • Advanced understanding of the software development life cycle

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Knowledge of Agile Development methodology

  • Strong knowledge of CICD and supporting Devops processes

  • Proficiency with languages such as Python and shell scription for automation

Preferred Skills:

  • Public Cloud experience: Azure, AWS, GCP (esp. Azure)

  • Kubernetes basics

  • DevOps dashboard development

  • Automation experience with Ansible, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Jenkins, etc.
