Currently, our valued client in Pittsburgh, PA has an opening for an Operational Purchaser. This position is a 6-month contract, with the potential for continuation after the initial contract.
The maximum W2 hourly pay rate is $30/hr., based on experience and ability.
The Operational Purchaser, Regional Procurement is responsible for the daily operational procurement activities. This position primarily supports the company's US sites.
The Operational Purchaser has daily interactions with plant production personnel, suppliers and site personnel to ensure the timely procurement and execution of necessary services.
The jobholder works closely with the Procurement Category managers to monitor alignment of operational activities with global sourcing strategies.
The Operational Purchaser, Regional Procurement is accountable for the following main tasks:
Local purchases of goods and services for the Company's US sites.
Ensures the uninterrupted supply of goods and services through close communication with the suppliers and the understanding of the requirements of the business. Expediting orders, when applicable, to meet urgent demand.
Creation of purchase orders based on received purchase requisitions and information from the respective sourcer. Check and document order confirmations, clarify deviations with suppliers and internal customers.
Front-office support for common day-to-day operational tasks in communication with internal customers & suppliers.
Ensure supplier and purchasing data maintenance (payment terms, material numbers, etc.).
Responsible for the implementation of and adherence to quality, environmental, safety & corporate compliance measures to meet HSEQ and other regulatory standards as well as internal process standards.
Communicate with Procurement Category Managers to ensure alignment of tactical activities with sourcing strategies.
The main objectives of the function:
Ensures optimal internal customer service as well as timely and efficient procurement process management for assigned purchases
Enables smooth running of operational plants adhering to procurement processes
The Operational Purchaser has work relations to External Suppliers, Internal • Buyers, Internal customers (purchase requisitioners, plant personnel, and Sourcers), Head of Procurement, Supply Chain Center, Production/Service Units.
BS degree preferred
Commercial / technical training in combination with work experience
• Experience in Procurement or Customer Service desired
• SAP Material Management Module as well
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point) skills preferred
• Self-motivated detailed contributor
• Communication as well as team skills (special proficiency in telephone support required)
