CTG is seeking to fill a Director of IT Operations opening for our client.

Job Title: Director of IT Operations

Department: Information Technology

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Reports To: Vice President of IT



This position is responsible for overall planning and execution of IT Operations and Infrastructure. This position directly oversees IT activities at each site in order to maintain consistent approach to IT Operations. The position has managerial responsibility for all IT Operations staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

  • Identifying short and long term global IT infrastructure hardware, storage and networking needs.

  • Managing critical JDE hardware platform to 99.9% scheduled uptime rate

  • Standardizing IT Helpdesk procedures and policies across all locations

  • Security of all IT data and hardware assets

  • Attract, retain and develop a highly skilled and talented staff to enable successful Operations initiatives and support

  • Developing and executing plans for routine IT hardware upgrades and refreshes

  • Coordination of Disaster Recovery efforts for all locations

  • Identifying potential new suppliers and contract negotiations

  • Researching potentially advantageous emerging technology as related to IT Operations

  • Ensures all site compliance with Helpdesk SLA’s.

  • Manages vendor compliance issues pertaining to billing or delivered services

  • Ensures corporate compliance with software licensing standards

  • Ensures proper warranty coverage on all critical IT hardware

  • Participates, as part of the IT Management Team, in short and long term planning of all technology solutions and IT strategic plan.

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


  • Supervises IT Operations personnel at all sites. Coordinates IT Operations activities and projects. Allocates resources in support of IT Operations mission and departmental requirements.

  • Experience in leadership, performance management and motivation strategies

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of ITIL practices

  • Strong project management skillset

  • Ability to quickly triage critical IT issues

  • Ability to recognize or anticipate business trends and develop complementary IT solutions

  • Knowledge of Windows, Apple, Linux OS management

  • Must possess ability to professionally communicate with all levels, including technical and non-technical users

  • Must have the ability to professionally present ideas, facts and recommendations effectively in group situations

  • Capability to manage and supervise outside contractors

  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

  • Ability to retain and absorb information quickly and accurately

  • Extremely customer service oriented


  • Bachelor degree required. Preferred in computer science.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience managing employees in one or more information technology functions.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience managing network and telecom functions

  • Logical approach to problem solving required. Ability to proceed through system diagnostics in a logical and orderly manner is essential.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
