Entomology Research Specialist

CTG's premier global crop science and seeds research client located in Morrisville, NC has an immediate need for an Entomology Research Specialist to join their Lepidoptera Pest Screening team.

Position Overview:

Successful candidate should have a solid understanding of biology, with preference for microbial and entomological systems, and is willing to learn and take part in our high throughput screening processes. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the laboratory developing and implementing in-vivo and in-vitro bioassays involving microbes, insects and plants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aid with experimental setup and data collection and processing

  • Participate in short multidisciplinary laboratory experiences within various scientific groups at within the Innovation Center, where you will gain a broad perspective of the multidisciplinary effort required for producing traits to solve agricultural problems

Educational Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Minimum a BS in general agriculture, biology, entomology or related area

  • Experience working with insects and plants is highly desirable

  • Familiarity and comfort with basic research principles is a must

  • Candidates should have working knowledge of biological systems and willingness and ability to gain on-the-job training are required

  • Must be willing and able to work with live insects, nematodes and bacteria

  • Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and should have excellent organizational and record keeping skills

  • Should be able to communicate in English, with people from multiple nationalities and educational backgrounds

  • Must be self-motivated, independent and responsible with ability to conduct work mostly in the laboratory, with occasional participation in field and greenhouse activities may be required

  • Field and Greenhouse temperatures may be high during summer months, so warm temperature tolerance will be necessary


  • Pay Range: $20.90 per hour DOE W-2 only (sorry no Corp to Corp)

  • Duration: 6 Months

  • Shift: 8:00 AM Start
