CTG IT Technician - Montréal in Montréal, Canada

CTG is seeking to fill a Technicien Informatique opening for our client in Montréal, Quebec.

Location: Montréal, Quebec H1Y 1J8 Canada

Duration: 6-12 months (could be contract to hire)

This job requires on site work in Montréal.

This client supports government projects so Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or a valid work permit required.

Overview:

As an IT Technician, you are responsible for Level 1 technical support, configuration and installation of workstations.

Duties:

  • Ensure technical support, sufficient availability and quality listening to users

  • Configure new computer workstations in accordance with standards and standardization procedures for the common office environment and make recommendations as needed

  • Install new programs, software, hardware versions or components in accordance with distributor standards and organizational guidelines

  • Ensure compliance with and application of standards and guidelines for the installation and use of PCs and printers to protect the integrity and stability of technology infrastructures

  • Diagnose and resolve problems related to computer programs, software, equipment and the technological environment

  • Provide technical support for office applications

  • Control access to IT resources, credential assignments, rights and permissions, and physical security of equipment, software, and data

  • Know and maintain documentation and installation procedures manuals and user manuals

  • Maintain an asset inventory system

Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of three years' experience in the field of IT

  • A good knowledge of Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016 and Active Directory

  • Excellent knowledge of installing hardware and software in Windows environments

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 office tools

  • Excellent knowledge of IT network infrastructure concepts

  • An understanding of routing and switching principles, wireless services, IP telephony, and video conferencing

  • Knowledge of security system architectures, networks (IP, firewall, LAN)

  • A good knowledge of backup and network storage concepts

  • Knowledge of knowledge sharing and collaboration technologies

  • A good knowledge of the protocols governing the interactions between the different components (microcomputers, telecommunications networks, application and database servers)

  • Knowledge of virtualization environments (VMWare, Hyper V)

  • Knowledge of information security and privacy standards

  • Knowledge of management procedures, standards, rules and policies

  • A good knowledge of ITIL processes

  • Knowledge of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information

  • Fluency in oral French and a basic level of written French

  • Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or a valid work permit

Education:

  • A Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) with a specialization in Computer Science.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
