Overview

CTG’s Melbourne Office specializes in developing software for warehouse management systems, with our largest client being a major US food and beverage manufacturer. This is a full-time-salaried position. Our work culture provides autonomy, a place to learn and grow, and work with people you like. We offer a great deal of flexibility but the position is not remote.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the designer will be to work with technical product owners, customer stakeholders and our developer teams to translate desired product features into graphical mockups, illustrations and assets to enhance our existing and new user interfaces. The designer may also participate in converting accepted designs to image assets and front-end web code including (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) where appropriate and based on their experience. The designer works to ensure that features are delivered in a manner that provides an intuitive, logical and consistent user experience across a user interface.

The Designer will:

  • Participate in scoping and design of projects to understand and help shape requirements

  • Understand the business domains to help the product team envision and prototype new interfaces and applications

  • Work with product team and customers to understand how applications are used in order to design optimal experiences to be implemented by development team

  • Create designs using illustration, image editing and layout software

  • Create user interface mockups and image assets for existing and new user interfaces

  • Work with product owners and development teams to improve user experience across products by designing intuitive, logical and consistent workflows and look and feel to application interfaces

  • Select colors, images, typography, layout, look and feel of controls and applications

  • Work with developers to review designs and user interface changes to uphold standards

  • Break mockups into front-end assets and code including images, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Produce drafts for stakeholder review and make revisions based on feedback received

  • Stay up to date with ongoing knowledge in design, user experience and front-end best practices, tools and technologies

  • Work independently and in teams with minimal supervision

  • Enjoy solving challenging problems

  • Self-driven to continue learning new concepts, tools, techniques and technology

Desired Qualifications

  • A Degree in Design, Emerging Media, Software Development or related field

  • Several years of experience as a designer and/or front-end developer

  • An understanding of Agile software development principles and workflow
