Job Title : Quality Engineer II

Location : Manassas, VA

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Manassas, VA

Pay Rate : Based on experience

Work Hours : M-F 8am-5pm

Education : Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology)

Role Purpose

The Quality Engineer II is responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining quality evaluation systems and procedures to ensure the production of high-quality materials and products. The role requires collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and drive continuous improvement. The position will involve applying advanced quality engineering practices, performing root cause analysis, and utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean to achieve strategic plant goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams to implement manufacturing process improvements and quality enhancements.

  • Provide technical support for validation projects, equipment validation, and improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with FDA requirements for medical device products.

  • Drive continuous improvement through leadership, facilitation, and coaching of project teams, along with providing training as needed.

  • Apply quality engineering tools and methodologies (FMEA, CE Diagram, DOE, MSA, etc.) to support manufacturing operations and quality system improvements.

  • Lead or support the development and execution of validation protocols.

  • Revise and develop Quality Plans, including incoming, in-process, and final inspection requirements, and ensure relevant training is provided.

  • Conduct technical reviews and interpret data for equipment and process performance, ensuring accuracy and precision.

  • Write technical reports, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Participate in MRB, nonconformance report reviews, and CAPA documentation, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Monitor and review key quality metrics, providing recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related field.

  • 4-7 years of relevant work experience in quality engineering or a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge and experience applying statistical analysis, Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, and other quality engineering methodologies.

  • Experience with technical writing and documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and relevant quality tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in relevant fields.

  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) by ASQ.

  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, QSR 21 CFR 820/210/211, and cGMP.

  • Experience with Minitab and MS Project.
