Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Pay Rates: $16-20/hour based on experience

 

Overview: Plans and performs inspection for products, machine shop and for purchased parts. Inspects incoming parts, subassemblies and documents inspections.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Works from drawings, specifications, inspection procedures and work instructions to inspect parts and equipment

  • Uses a variety of instruments, including micrometers, depth gauges, CMM, and general layout instruments and related devices for adherence to drawing specifications.

  • Follows standard procedure to inspect produced and purchased parts using specified sampling plan.

  • Exercises care to detect and reject parts not meeting specifications or quality standards.

  • Completes inspection records and forms. Upon request, performs special projects.

  • Evaluates data and writes brief reports as requested to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

  • If requested, sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.

  • Makes basic inspection set-ups to check interrelated dimensions.

  • Programs and performs inspections on a CMM

  • Engage in ISO activities as directed by department manager

  • Creates control plans for parts as required

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in technical field preferred

  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training

  • Zeiss Calypso training preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Knowledge of basic math skills: degrees, fractions and metrics. Ability to understand machine shop mathematics and complex drawings

  • Measuring tool knowledge (gages, dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, bore gages)

  • Ability to learn CMM operation and programming

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee must frequently move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds
