Job Title : Molecular Biology Scientist I

Location : West Sacramento, CA

Duration : 12 months, W2 Contract

Position Description:

  • This is a unique opportunity suited for a qualified scientist with an interest in IVD new product development to deliver quality controls for assay development in the fields of infectious diseases and oncology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product development of molecular quality control

  • Project planning, execution and documentation

  • Manage multiple projects in parallel

  • This position is a hands on position in the laboratory and up to 50% of time for documentation

  • Perform laboratory experiments such as PCR, molecular cloning and cell culture

  • Provides innovative ideas for new products and intellectual property

  • Actively participates as a member of cross-functional product development team

Education Requirements

  • Ph.D in Molecular Biology / Genetics / Biochemistry / Cell Biology or equivalent, with minimum 5 years industry experience in IVD medical device field

  • B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology / Genetics / Biochemistry / Cell Biology or equivalent, with minimum 10 years industry experience in IVD medical device field

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strong Molecular Biology skills

  • Familiar with nucleic acid based assays

  • Familiar with Design Control process

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Has a passion for problem solving and creative thinking

  • Extremely organized and driven to complete projects efficiently

  • Must be highly collaborative; Have the ability to work within a diverse team and contribute to a supportive, positive work environment both within the team and in the greater community

  • Self-motivated, independent, and a proactive driving force of execution

  • Able to adapt to changing needs caused by time, budget, or other constraints

Desired Skills

  • Preferred to be trained in ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820 Quality Systems Regulation, GLP, GMP, GDP

  • Experience with running ddPCR, Ion Torrent and Illumina NGS platforms

  • Experience with running clinical analyzers

  • Cell biology techniques
