CTG is currently seeking an experiencedSenior Data Engineer / ETL Developer to support our Data Warehousing team.
This is a remote opportunity supporting clients in the Pacific Time Zone.
Engage business stakeholders and SMEs to understand their data and analytics needs.
Capture data and analytics user stories and requirements, and translate into technical design requirements.
Generate data models to support data needs.
Design master and reference data models and solutions to standardize data.
Perform data profiling to support the proposed data solutions.
Develop ETL and data automation code to extract source data, transform to map to the target model and/or cleanse the data, and load into a data warehouse or analytical model.
Configure the operational and analytical database(s) to host data, and develop data marts to meet the business requirements.
Optimize the ETL data pipelines code and configure data interface tools and APIs as needed.
Engage and collaborate with IT architects, database administrators and security engineers to configure the data platform(s) and databases to safely meet the performance expectations.
Develop end user analytics solutions using business intelligence tools.
Develop test cases for data validation and end user solution testing.
Build data validation reports and scripts to assure data accuracy.
Work with end users to resolve data errors and functional bugs.
Document technical data solutions for maintenance and support purposes.
Deploy data warehousing and analytics solutions from development, to test, to production environments following IT lifecycle procedures.
Manage code versioning and archival as required.
Train end users and senior leaders to use data solutions to yield business value.
Support end users during testing and production phases, and resolve data tickets and issues as they arise.
Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, SCRUM master, and business to meet expected project outcomes.
Ideal candidate should have 10+ years of Data Engineering experience with strong SQL development background, including hands-on experience in ETL development and Data Warehousing.
Proficient in operational and analytical data warehousing modeling using tools such as Oracle SQL data modeler, ER/Studio, ERWIN or similar.
Experience performing data profiling and generating profiling reports to make data acquisition, modeling and clean up decisions.
Significant experience with ETL tools. Knowledge in Microsoft SSIS and SSAS is preferred.
Applied experience working with Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases.
Experience working with data interface APIs and ETL software (e.g. Informatica, Microsoft SSIS, or similar to extract source data from on-premise or Cloud hosted systems.
Develop ETL test scripts based on technical specifications/Data design documents and source to target mappings.
Validating target tables with record counts, duplicate data, reconcile counts with source and data type. Validation of a Data Warehouse containing multiple data sources, and testing distributed systems.
Understanding of REST based API testing and JSON
Experience in writing complex SQL scripts for data validation and python scripts for creating test automation.
Experience in writing test cases in a test driven development environment, particularly in python.
Demonstrated experience in test data preparation.
Demonstrated experience with understanding the business requirements and test cases to generate large volumes of test data to support the requirements and test cases.
Passion and ability for solving intractable data problems.
Data reporting and analytics
Demonstrated experience developing operational reports and dashboards using Microsoft PowerBI, SAP Business Objects, and other similar tools.
Build and configure Microsoft SSAS models to support the data reporting requirements.
Configure data and reporting security to manage user access and sensitive data.
Communication and collaboration
Working knowledge in finance, sales and manufacturing data.
Technical design and user requirements documentation.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Experience working in a waterfall and agile/SCRUM delivery methodology environment.
Bachelor or Master Degree in computer science, data science, or related field.
Professional IT certifications such Microsoft, Oracle, AWS and/or Data Warehousing preferred.
