Job Title: Optical Technician

Work Hours: M-F

General Description:

Encompasses the application of scientific, technological, and mathematical principles relating to the nature of light, involving geometric and physical optics, including lenses, prisms, mirrors, gratings, and optical metrology techniques. Designs, models, analyzes, and tests optical and electro-optical systems and components, including sensors, lasers fiber-optics, and telecommunications products. Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for Electro-optical systems and components. Uses design-to-cost models, six sigma methodology, and other methods to assure optical design requirements met.

Requirements:

Requires moderate understanding of the general aspects of the job and a familiarity with terminology and procedures. Follows previously defined procedures. Proposes and implements basic solutions to routine problems. Refers atypical or complex problems to others. Works under close site supervision. Provided instructions for routine work. Recommends actions to improve efficiency. Able to perform duties within prescribed timeframes and maintain confidentiality. Contacts are primarily within the immediate work group.

Education and Experience:

  • AAS degree Desired

  • 0-3 Years
