CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Buyer .

Job Title: Buyer

Location: Fairport, NY

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Fairport, NY

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F, 8am-5pm

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Technical field preferred, but not required)

Role Purpose:

The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the assured supply of materials, equipment, and services. This includes delivering on-time, at the best price, with high quality, while minimizing inventories and ensuring optimum material utilization and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Business Global Supply Management (GSM) Strategy Development and deploys strategies to make purchasing decisions aligned with organizational objectives and sourcing strategies.

  • Updates and links Contribution Metrics with site/business cost reduction portfolios.

  • Plays a key role in negotiations with suppliers, including contract administration.

  • Owns and assists with the Supplier Relationship Management process, including supplier audits.

  • Creates and maintains contractual documents such as Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and Certificates of Insurance.

  • Assists with Commodity Reviews and Supply Intelligence.

  • Organizes, controls, and minimizes materials inventory, including managing slow-moving and obsolete materials where applicable.

  • Acts as GSM liaison between plants, working with materials and quality teams.

  • Recommends and implements changes to purchasing practices to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and ethical standards.

  • Resolves invoicing issues promptly and acts as the main contact for invoicing concerns.

  • Participates in cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce costs, and resolve supply chain issues.

  • Protects Intellectual Property (IP) and ensures environmental compliance of suppliers.

  • Ensures adherence to internal and external auditing requirements related to GSM or other certifications.

  • Champions the Global Buying Policy and ensures compliance.

Experiences/Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical field preferred, but not required)

Desired:

  • Experience as a plant or corporate buyer.

  • Experience using SAP.

  • Experience with GSM processes and systems.

  • Experience working in a matrix environment or on cross-functional teams.

  • Yellow or Green Belt Certification.

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, planning, quality, engineering, or supply chain.

  • Experience across multiple businesses, divisions, or technologies.

  • Experience with global manufacturing and business through work or project experience.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), APICS, or related Supply Chain certification.
