Computer Task Group is seeking a Field Engineer to work at our client’s location in Birmingham, AL.

Job Description:

Electrical Field supervisor to supervise the following: The caster has been idle for 2.5yrs. Candidate will oversee the restart & installation of the new equipment. Restart a rounds caster with a partial revamp of the run out table, additional cooling beds & electrical equipment to include drive cabinets & PLC cabinets. Work with a contractor & coordinate the check out existing motors, pumps, electrical valves & all electrical equipment associated with the caster. Follow new electrical cabling installation as well as confirm the existing wiring is in working condition. Work with the mechanical supervisor & safety person to ensure proper lockout/tagout & tryout is done correctly for the contractor to work safely. Able to follow & understand electrical circuit diagrams call out mistakes if found as well as to find suitable solutions to expedite work. Responsible for daily reports. 90% of the time the supervisor will be in the field working with the contractor to make sure they are 1) working safe 2) following the daily work schedule 3) answer any questions that may arise 4) correct installation/work is being done.

Specific work location and expected hours to work:

Birmingham, Al. to start 50hrs week, at peak 60-70hrs

Education Level Required:

High school diploma or higher, education will be a plus, but minimum of 5 years field experience is mandatory

Personal and technical skills required:

Able to communicate clearly on giving direction to the contractors, personal & working behavior should be consistent with each other. Show up for work on time & able to work late as needed. Read & understand electrical circuit diagrams. Must have a computer & be able to work in excel, word, power point, generally should be proficient with the computer.


Valid Drivers license with a clean driving record

Verbal and written communication skills

Computer skills in MS Word and Excel computer programs preferred

Ability to travel

Available on a 24-hour basis to respond to customer needs
