Position: SAP Configurator/Solution Designer

Location: Durham, NC

Duration: Long term contract / contract-to-hire

Position Description:

Responsible for developing end to end technical solution frameworks to meet agreed business, process and architecture requirements. The solutions designer works within a project team creating technical solutions, risk assessments, identifying the detailed component design teams that need to be engaged and the level of change that will be necessary to fulfil the project’s objectives. Works to ensure that the component level changes proposed by the individual design domains form a coherent whole that most effectively meets the business need. These activities will inform the assessment of project business cases and will underpin planning, scheduling and scope definitions.

In most cases, the solution designer may actively participate in the build but may also leave that up to a third party partner. In this case, the Solution Designer reviews/inspects the work of the vendor to ensure the design meets the requirements and ensure solution aligns with internal application standards, guidelines, and principles. This may also include testing the solution to ensure it meets the needs or help solution a new design that work towards the target-state application. The Solution Designer is well versed on system application architecture, integration methods, and delivery phases of the Software Development Life Cycle in alignment with internal reference architectures and business strategies and has the ability to utilize it to arrive at business solution.

As well as project focused work, the role has an enduring responsibility for maintaining the end-to-end service designs, or current state repositories, that explain the operation of each solution and operational service. The documentation provided by this team thus acts as a framework for the more detailed activities undertaken by the individual design teams as well as being an important resource for architecture, operations and/or service management. The application Solution Designer is focused on the application landscape and the tools, systems and processes in the IT landscape.

The successful candidate will be a SAP practitioner. They need to be able to get into the code or configuration, and be able to have a productive dialogue/debate with service providers. This role was formerly referred to as a ‘SAP Configurator’.

Required Skills:

SAP Planning (MM), Order to Cash (OTC), Sales & Distribution (SD) and FICO Modules.

Strong in solution design

Experience in estimation of the amount of resources it will take to get the work completed.

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree

Desired:

Experience w/ Net Suite
