CTG IP Legal Analyst Intern in Durham, North Carolina

IP Legal Analyst Intern

Provide legal research on a variety of IP related adversarial matters also assist Associate General Counsel of Intellectual Property & Development (“AGC of IP”) with intellectual property, product development, and other corporate legal matters. The IP Legal Analyst is a member of the Legal Department and is responsible for a variety of IP docket management related tasks. This role is well-suited for an individual with a background in law and interest in patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

Responsibilities:

  • Update legal department's IP docketing tool with patent and trademark filings as instructed by AGC of IP.

  • Attend Invention Review Board Meetings with AGC of IP as needed.

  • Assist AGC of IP in tracking and responding to outside counsel inquires and correspondences.

  • Assist attorneys in tracking and responding to ongoing litigation or external disputes

  • Assist IP counsel with IP-related tasks, such as invoicing and open source review.

  • Track a variety of IP related projects and tasks using MS Excel and other IP applications and tools.

  • Generate Competitor Patent Landscape Reports for AGC of IP based on technology focus areas.

  • Assist with other legal department tasks as requested.

  • Engage in routine legal and contracts work as instructed by Legal, including by not limited to drafting memoranda on legal issues involving procurement, sales, and HR matters

Required Skills:

  • BA/BS degree

  • Third year law student

  • Legal work experience a plus.

  • Word and PowerPoint expertise, with basic Excel proficiency.

  • Superior time management, research, and organizational skills, plus high attention to detail.

  • Flexible and motivated to take ownership of IP related projects and demonstrate follow-through.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Collaborative, with ability to work well with others both within and across departments.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet strict project deadlines.
