Duration: Consulting Position, 10 months

Location: Corning, NY 14831

Job Title: Process Technician

Shift: Full time, 8am-5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication of ceramic parts, including measuring raw material quantities, recording processing parameters, and documenting part processing through all processing steps.

  • Coordination of part processing with other organizations.

  • Preparing samples for inspection (sectioning, polishing), conducting sample inspection (visual and microscope observations on surface quality and cracks), and documenting inspection results

  • Measuring part properties (size, weight, density) at after various processing steps.

  • Taking pictures of parts to document processing results, and to provide input to PowerPoint presentations on research progress

  • Attention to detail in documenting sample measurement information using Excel

  • Plotting of measurement results over various processing conditions

  • Troubleshooting of process problems, including identification of problems via part observation

  • Characterization of new materials, possibly via coordination with other labs and measurement equipment

  • Contribution to RTR-report documentation of new processes

  • Quickly learn how to use new processing equipment (e.g., saws, polishing wheels, shaping tools)

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum Associates Degree Required

  • 1-3 years previous industrial/laboratory experience in process development or part fabrication

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint

  • Quick learner

  • Able to follow instructions precisely in fabrication and measurement of samples for laboratory experiments

  • Attention to detail

  • Problem solving skills/ troubleshooting skills necessary

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Willingness to take initiative in solving process challenges as new processes are developed.

  • Steel toed shoes required by candidate
