Job Title:Drafting/CAD Technician I

Duration: 11+ months

Location:Corning, NY

Pay Rate: Up to $26.00/hr (based on experience)

Work Hours:Work Schedule: M-F, 8AM -5PM.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Encompasses the use of integrated systems for computer-aided design used for the systematic representation and dimensional specification of mechanical and architectural structures.

  • Prepares drawings or schematics for mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, equipment and structures.

  • Utilizes CAD digitizing techniques and skills. Digitizes and edits integrated circuit drawings consisting of components and/or assemblies.

  • Makes engineering computations and prepares and revises specifications.

  • Finish and clean up concept level assemblies and models.

  • Add hardware.

  • Check fits and interferences.

  • Fill out custom properties.

  • Assign materials,

  • Possibly manage library components (fasteners, hardware, purchase components).

  • Generate detail drawings from existing designs models.

  • Create drawings on Corning Templates (Assembly drawings with BOM & Balloons, component level machine drawings, Weldment Drawings).

  • Add dimensions and tolerances to drawings including GD&T.

  • Migrate Project Models and Drawings from share drives to EPDM Vault.

  • Assign part/drawing numbers to all custom components.

  • Replace all fasteners and hardware with vault, library components.

  • Save purchase components to library per vault guidelines.

  • Update all model metadata / custom properties & materials.

Education and ExperienceRequirements:

  • This is an entry level position

  • Associate of Applied Science desired.

  • Experience 0-3 yrs.

  • Solidworks proficiency.

  • Ability to create 2D Drawings

  • Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing.

  • Experience with ePDM vault.

  • Able to stay focused and motivated on what may be long tedious work.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems.

  • Motivated to learn.

  • Requires moderate understanding of the general aspects of the job and a familiarity with terminology and follow procedures.

  • Proposes and implements basic solutions to routine problems.

  • Refers atypical or complex problems to others.

  • Works under close site supervision.

  • Provided instructions for routine work.

  • Recommends actions to improve efficiency.

  • Able to perform duties within prescribed timeframes and maintain confidentiality.

  • Contacts are primarily within the immediate work group.
