CTG Mortgage Closing Specialist I in Cheektowaga, New York
CTG is seeking to fill a Mortgage Closing Specialist I opening for our client in Cheektowaga, NY.
Location: Cheektowaga, NY (hybrid remote)
Duration: 12 months
Overview:
As a Mortgage Closing Specialist I, you will serve as a critical liaison for gathering information necessary for the issuance of Closing Disclosures (CD). This role requires attention to detail as you assist our centralized Disclosure team, monitor and review reports and spreadsheets related to loan estimates and change circumstances for residential mortgage closings. Your collaboration with various parties will ensure timely closings while maintaining accuracy and compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assign pipeline reporting to title reviewers and manage the title review process.
Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the closing process, including customers, brokers, loan officers, and settlement agents.
Work with internal departments and external organizations to obtain necessary documentation for closings.
Conduct thorough reviews of files to ensure compliance with State and Federal guidelines, including verifying employment for income-qualified borrowers.
Monitor and review reports and spreadsheets related to loan estimates and change circumstances.
Follow up on rate lock and document expirations.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation submitted for CD issuance.
Proactively liaise with Settlement Agents to gather required information.
Monitor close dates and communicate any changes promptly.
Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls as per Company and regulatory standards.
Support a diverse environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with internal and external customers, including co-workers, borrowers, and Settlement Agents.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate's degree with a minimum of 1 year prior business experience, or at least 1 year of combined M&T Closing experience and customer service experience. In lieu of a degree, a combined 3 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Strong PC skills with proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and email software.
Ability to make informed decisions based on provided information.
Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced mortgage environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Prior experience in Mortgage Closing at a lender, title company, or settlement agent's office.
Familiarity with departmental software.
Knowledge of product, investor, and compliance requirements.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
