CTG Sr. DB2 Systems Programmer in Burlington, North Carolina

Title: Sr. DB2 Systems Programmer

We are seeking a Sr. DB2 Systems Programmer to work in Burlington, NC. The selected candidate for the Sr. DB2 Systems Programmer must have advanced knowledge of infrastructure lifecycle and project life cycle principles. Advanced infrastructure knowledge in application hardware, operating systems and/or advanced knowledge of configuring systems, appliances or software in support of critical infrastructure to support the business' mission. Advance knowledge in applicable scripting languages for the key focus area technologies supported. This roll is expected to participate in on-call support


  • Operate autonomously on many infrastructure deployment and maintenance activities

  • Assist with build out of infrastructure by gathering information, performing analysis and eliciting the details of user requirements in discussion with users

  • Complete design, documentation, process development, and testing and debugging tasks working within a team.

  • Support Infrastructure and associated software by fixing problems and tuning performance and making enhancements

  • Develop and implement infrastructure optimization projects and solutions, including enhancement and upgrades

  • Plan and lead small to medium size projects, including coordination with other necessary groups

  • Works with others, provides feedback and guidance to less experienced technologists

  • Will support Disaster Recovery technology, process, and procedure necessary to support the company and related infrastructure in the event of a disaster

  • Creating necessary documentation to support recovery efforts


  • Manage infrastructure lifecycle of hardware and supported commercial off the shelf products

  • Maintain infrastructure, including upgrade, enhancements, patches, and modifications

  • Diagnose and resolve system problems

  • Ensure system and network performance, reliability and quality


  • 5-7 years' work experience in applicable field

  • Experience with the DB2 DBA position

  • High level of solving technical problems

  • Experience with DB2 at a system programmer level, including installation/migration, performance tuning, problem-solving

  • Experience with IBM DB2 products QMF, ADB, HAA

  • Assembler


  • Effective communication skills with all internal personnel and appropriately engaging vendor resources


  • 4-year degree in applicable field

  • Experience with IBM z/OS operating system and hardware

  • Experience with these third party products is a plus:

  • CA SYSVIEW product suite

  • Compuware's Strobe monitor

  • IBM's DB2 Cloning tool

  • Rocket Data Virtualization

  • Oracle GoldenGate
