CTG Systems Analyst/Developer in Buffalo, New York
CTG is seeking to fill a Systems Analyst/Developer opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Overview:
The Software Engineer II will provide designs and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing applications. This position involves solving complex problems, making enhancements, and directing development tasks on projects of varying scope. The ideal candidate will use analytical and technical skills to evaluate client requirements, develop sound solutions, and ensure the efficient operation of supported applications. This role offers the opportunity to work as an individual contributor and lead less experienced personnel on large-scale projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to systems analysis, design, and development for both basic and complex applications.
Maintain a deep functional understanding of the supported application(s).
Manage technical aspects of project plans, including task allocation and timeline management.
Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Technology staff to shape systems development direction, from analysis through to user acceptance testing.
Review and execute detailed test plans and data, debug systems as needed.
Assess and understand interrelationships among programs, applications, and platforms to provide analytical consulting on how to leverage information technologies to meet business objectives.
Prepare comprehensive technical and functional specifications and ensure system documentation is up-to-date.
Review and mentor less experienced staff on documentation and tasks.
Prepare detailed project assessments, including estimates of time and effort.
Recommend and implement new technology, policies, or processes to improve organizational performance.
Participate in the evaluation of vendor software solutions.
Adhere to and promote development standards, procedures, and risk management policies.
Support the company's internal control standards, including responding to audit and regulatory requirements.
Perform other related duties as required, including project leadership on business studies or due diligence activities.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer II works under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead and is capable of managing and executing high-level systems analysis and development independently.
This position may manage and mentor less experienced personnel on project tasks and is capable of leading project activities for small to large scope projects.
The role requires interaction with senior management, other technology teams, clients, and vendors, and may serve as a technical representative in various committees or ad-hoc projects.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
Direct and monitor the work of less experienced development resources.
Provide guidance and leadership on project planning, task execution, and troubleshooting.
May serve as a mentor or technical lead on smaller initiatives or for less experienced team members.
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of an Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a combination of education and work experience (7+ years total), with at least 5 years of hands-on systems analysis and application development experience.
Proficient in C#, JavaScript, PowerShell, Graph API, ASP.NET, SQL, Data Lake, and Data Warehousing/Catalog.
Experience with automation tools such as Gitlab, Ansible, OpenShift, Artifactory, Terraform, and Automic is a plus.
Strong experience with application development software and hardware platforms.
Proficiency in project management software, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
Solid problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present to various audiences.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Strong knowledge of the Bank's application framework and related technologies.
Expertise in the business domain supported by the applications.
Advanced understanding of interfacing applications and systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and autonomously.
Highly action-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project execution.
Ability to work on projects outside normal business-as-usual operations, bringing focus and leadership to key system initiatives.
Additional Skills:
Detail-oriented with excellent lateral thinking skills.
Ability to balance technical and business needs, ensuring project goals align with the broader strategic objectives of the business.
Prior experience coordinating between applications teams and business units to identify and implement effective solutions.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
