Our client in Buffalo, NY has an immediate opening for a Mailroom Clerk for a 2 month contract assignment.

Essential job functions:

We process medical bills for Travelers that are related to worker’s comp or automobile accident injuries. We receive mail, open the mail, sort and prep the mail into the relevant lines of business, scan the documents and then perform QC on the images from scanning. We also store the paper in boxes for 30 days and have retrievals from those boxes in our “warehouse” environment. So basically there are 4 areas in the mailroom:

  1. Sort/Prep

  2. Scan

  3. Scan QC

  4. Warehouse

Additional Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

These are the positions we fill with temps. We have daily deadlines to meet. Some mail is due within 8 hours of receipt and others have 48 hours. We don’t know which is which until we get the mail opened and sorted so it is critical we get the mail opened and scanned quickly. Prep staff have to look at the documents and based on various rules they then sort and prep the documents for scanning. We work based on mail volumes and we get about 50% of the weekly volume in on Saturday/Monday and that is why we work 12 hours on Mondays and less hours the rest of the week, no real set schedule.

I look for people that have mail experience or have worked in a production/assembly line type environment since they are experienced in meeting deadlines, keeping up with machinery, fast paced work, etc. We also work within Travelers’ space so they are in our mailroom multiple times per day.

It’s all very repetitive and takes a type of person that can do basically the same thing each day. We cross train as much as possible to alleviate the boredom and to have flexible capacity. Hope this helps. Thanks for your support!
