Development Research Associate

CTG's premier global client located in Berkeley, CA has an immediate need for a Development Research Associate to work in Isolation and Purification within the R&D group at Bayer to bring new protein therapeutics to patients in clinical trials.

Position Overview:

The incumbent will play a key role in the Isolation and Purification Department in Global Biological Development. (S)he will participate in the development of cost-effective and robust purification process at the laboratory scale. Working with the lead scientist, (s)he will be responsible for planning, designing and executing small- to pilot-scale studies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine bench scale purification development experiments with supervision

  • Acts as an operator in both development and pilot scale manufacturing environment

  • Contributes to the functions of the laboratory including organization, chemical and equipment monitoring, and equipment maintenance

  • Collects and compiles data and records in laboratory notebook, and ensures laboratory notebooks are updated, audited and well maintained

  • May support clinical manufacturing

  • Follows GMP during clinical manufacturing under GMP conditions and would be required to complete GMP training

Educational Requirements:

  • BS or MS in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, biological sciences or related field

Skill & Competency Requirements:

  • 1 - 4 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in the performance of experiments, assays, and/or method development procedures

  • Ability to summarize, interpret, and review experimental data for accuracy

  • Good verbal and written communication skills including report writing skills

  • Ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, prioritize assigned tasks and effectively manage time to meet deadlines

Preferences: Experience with any of the following:

  • Column chromatography

  • AKTA workstations / FPLC

  • Tangential flow filtration (TFF)

  • Protein analytical assays such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, and ELISA

Other:

Compensation Target: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour W-2 only, sorry no Corp to Corp
