Job Title: IT Control/Systems Engineer

Location: Wilmington, NC 28405

Duration: 6 Months

Responsibilities of the position:

Scope of Position:

· This

position will be 50% or more focused on software/programming design and


· The

remaining time will be focused on Fiber Manufacturing production support


Projects involved with:

· Ownership

of production equipment control systems

· Development

of new products and processes

· Process

improvement projects with emphasis on lean manufacturing

· Capital

projects with focus on maintenance of business or cost reduction

Role within group:

· Individual

contributor working in a team based group

· Primary

responsibility will be to support and develop manufacturing process control

systems and user interfaces.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

· Assist

team of engineers to provide production support and troubleshooting for 24/7

manufacturing operation. Work with production associates, technicians, and

engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems

and user interfaces.

· Support

process and product optimization/improvement efforts. Develop plans for

innovative solutions to technical problems and follow through to


· Provide

training for engineers and/or production associates as needed for new

processes, equipment, or control systems.

· Lead

or participate in capital projects.

· Serve

on weekend production support team approximately every 5-6 weeks.

Education / experience:

· B.S.

Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

· Looking

for 2-5 years, looking for junior level engineer

Required Skills:

· Technical

background in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline

· Strong

computer programming skills desired (Visual Basic, MS Windows, iFIX/SCADA,

VB.Net, MS Word, Excel, Access, or equivalent).

· Ability/experience

integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiencies and

lower cost.

· Ability/experience

troubleshooting simple low voltage electrical circuitry

Soft Skills:

· Able

to communicate equally well with engineers, production associates, and managers

· Able

to work in a team-oriented environment

· Self


· Ability

to multi-task

Manager Must Haves:

· Visual


· MS



(iFix is nice to have with this, but not required)


experience is a plus

*This is

not a HW position. Experience with the hardware side of controls systems is not

applicable. Controls Engineers with PLC backgrounds are NOT the right fit. This

is a software development role that requires a minimum of VB and SCADA


Work Environment:

Most of the

time in office but will also have to go to manufacturing floor for software

installation, troubleshooting and testing. (75% - Office; 25%- manufacturing
