Job Title: Construction Project Manager 1

Project Duration: Contract, 12 months

Project Location: Omaha, NE

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (paid OT as req’d)

Pay Rate: $29.00 to $35.00/Hourly, DOE and Benefits choice

Required Skills / Experience (MUST have to be considered)

  • Willing / able to travel - REQUIRED up to 50%

  • Fluent in English

  • Three to five years of current experience in Construction Project Management within the Telecommunication field

  • Remote project management experience entailing project planning, safety management, subcontractor management, supervising field work, status reporting, cost management, documentation, and invoicing

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Position Overview

  • Requires very self-motivated and disciplined individual to manage project sites located in the Omaha, NE area

  • Will have a company issued lap top and work out of home however, will be in the field majority of time overseeing field installation projects

  • Job requires good physical ability to maneuver around sites and equipment

  • Good eye site and ability to distinguish colors will be needed to work with fiber optics

  • Must have good sense of urgency to keep projects on schedule and see thru to completion

  • Strong leadership and communication skills required to work with customers and trades people

  • Proactive attitude will be needed to keep on schedule, identify potential challenges and find resolutions

  • Position will report to Operations Manager located in Hickory, NC

  • Long term assignment and has potential to become a permanent position

Required Education

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree - Engineering or Telecommunication field preferred

Desired Skills / Experience (nice to have)

  • Two years of current work experience as a field engineer or technician handling and installing optical products is desired

  • Knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, MS Visio and/or graphics drawing programs is a plus

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Major Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Create and communicate project plans, identify resource requirements, and timing for assigned projects with personnel, field sales, contractors and end customers

  • Coordinate with group to negotiate changes orders with customers as needed

  • Schedule and/or conduct pre-construction and post-construction walkouts

  • Provide feedback regarding subcontractor capabilities, capacity constraints, and work performance

  • Make recommendations concerning the awarding of subcontracted business

  • Conduct all business activities in a manner consistent with corporate values and Code of Conduct

  • Assist Safety and Quality Manager in the communication and enforcement of quality and safety standards to be met by field personnel and subcontractors on all Project Services (PS) projects

  • Use administrative systems, procedures and forms necessary to maintain uniform records systems, facilitate order, invoice and payment processes on a consistent basis

  • Maintain documentation files for completed projects

Planning and Forecasting

  • Coordinate resolution of conflicts and / or resource shortfalls through prioritization that takes into account: strategic value, customer expectations, legal obligations, deadlines and probability of success

  • Provide weekly project status and project-related metrics updates to assist Operations Supervisors in the forecasting of project revenue and costs

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects to increase efficiency, capacity, safety, and quality within the team and the department
