CTG is actively recruiting for a Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer who will support the IBM mainframe DB2 subsystem and related program products running on the z/OS operating system. This is a perm placement opportunity for a client in New York City. This position may require 24/7 Production Coverage and support weekend implementations at times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 - 6 years of progressive experience using information technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, or area networks

  • 18 months experience in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties

Preferred Skills:

  • Extensive experience working with z/OS, SMP/E, TSO, DB2 and program product installations.

  • Experience in the installation, migration and configuration of DB2 is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in using tools such as MAINVIEW, FILEAID/DB2 and the DB2ADMIN tool.

  • Experience with QMF.

  • Experience with the WEBSPHERE Replication Server (Data Propagator).

  • Individual will be required to provide Production 24/7 coverage (if required) and support weekend implementations.

  • Working knowledge of CICS and IMS is a plus.

  • Working with an enterprise wide, large scale implementation.

  • Excellent Communications skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • The ability to work as part of a group and individually.

  • The ability to shuffle priorities in response to a changing workload.

  • The ability to keep up with changing technology.

  • Must be reliable, honest and technically inclined.

  • Must be willing to learn new technologies, which the candidate may have no experience with.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science
