Senior Data Modeler
CTG is currently seeking a Senior Data Modeler for a client in the medical device industry in Mounds View, MN. A successful candidate will be responsible for understanding and implementing data models that meet the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) business need for the Patient Centric Data Model and requirements for performance, security, privacy and regulatory compliance. This is a permanent placement opportunity.

The Senior Data Modeler will:
Gather and analyze CRHF business and operational requirements. Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of existing application data models, data usage patterns and geographical as well as regulatory restrictions.
Design and implement physical database environments, business and presentation layers.
Recommend relational (RDBMS) and non-relational (NoSQL, Big Data, Doc DB) data storage technologies suitable to meet business and data needs based on deep understanding of data and existing/planned usage.
Ensure compliance and integration with reference architectures policies and deliver database performance exceeding expectation.
Design extendable solutions that can ensure data integrity, high performance, high reliability and scalability, as well as security and privacy requirements compliance.
Provide recommendations in the creation and implementation of new data standards and best practices for database selection, industry trends and data modeling tools.
Work closely with developers, analysts, and data consumers. Coach, teach, and mentor colleagues, junior engineers, and database administrators (DBAs) for future success. Identifying and resolving performance issues and data quality issues, as they arise.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Informatics, or related.
6 years in modeling data for operational and information/business intelligence solutions.
Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
Firsthand experience understanding and remodeling existing application data architecture and proposing new models/architectures to meet performance and SLAs.
Nice to Have:
Proven record in designing, developing and delivering Data Management and Analytic architecture across a range of applications, OLTP and BI.
Expert knowledge of diverse database architectures (centralized and distributed, homogenous and heterogeneous).
Expert knowledge in database and information modelling (ER, Dimensional, physical, logical, hierarchical, semantic, etc.).
Expert in database and schema design and translation to implementation.
Proven ability to communicate with success to all levels within the enterprise in both a verbal and written manner.
Experience creating architectures for OLTP and BI/OLAP Big Data solutions.
Experience in cloud based platforms (Amazon, Azure, etc.).
Experience with Big Data technical solutions (Hadoop, HDFS, Map/Reduce, HIVE/PIG, SPLUNK).
Experience working in Azure and/or AWS clouds with SaaS offering such as Azure Data Lake and DynamoDB.
Experience working with healthcare data domains in FDA regulated environment.
Experience with Data Governance, Master Data Management, and metadata management.
Strong understanding of the global policies and requirements for data privacy and security.
Has clinical infrastructure domain knowledge (IT Systems, HL7, EMR’s, PHR, Security and HIPAA, etc.).
Possesses an understanding of the nuances of working in a regulated environment.
