CTG is assisting our client in hiring a Data Science Manager for a Full-time, Permanent opportunity in the Minneapolis area (Eden Prairie, MN). This is a W2 position and will require a citizen or green card candidate.
We have an exceptional opportunity for a Big Data Science Manager/Delivery Lead. We are building brand new, data-intensive software products that are focused on delivery sophisticated tools for our business, customers and carriers. Big data, machine learning, predictive analytics and cognitive computing are areas we are heavily investing in.
We are well on our way to an established data science practice, we now need to formalize our delivery of these capabilities into our products. This is a dual role, managing a blend of data scientists and big data engineers; currently 7. Secondly, you will be working with respective teams across the enterprise to take these technologies to production.
What will you be doing?
Work with enterprise architects, product architects, value owners, project managers, delivery leads, data scientists, engineers and support team members to bring big data R&D projects into Production.
Managing the Data Science team’s backlog by collaborating with value owners and product architects.
Attend dependent team standups as necessary.
Remove or escalate roadblocks hindering progress.
Contribute to product roadmaps that will utilize big data (includes and incorporates technical, schedule, business/delivery team).
Represent the teams work on a Product Planning Board – maintain and ensure accuracy of work represented.
Release Management - bring technical & business priorities into one plan (include dependency management).
Proactively communicate to support, training and other business stakeholders for upcoming releases.
Manage a high performing team – monitor health, sustainability, cross team dynamics, value delivered.
Establish a team work system – Kanban, Scrum, etc. as decided by the team.
Facilitate the definition of done.
Facilitate code reviews.
Ensure committed work is completed on time.
Address Impediments preventing work completion – mitigate risks & escalate when appropriate.
Quick Resolution of High Priority Incidents - appropriate attendance at weekly HPI meetings.
PARTNER WITH TECHNOLOGY MANAGERS
Ensure the team is properly staffed.
Partner with manager in regards to individual performance.
Evaluate candidates for team fit as supplied by craft manager
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
5 years IT management.
5 year Project management/leadership experience.
Demonstrated expertise in Agile / Scrum methodology.
Software engineering experience is a benefit. Hands-on expertise with Big data technologies is benefit.
